2013 WWE Predictions

In January 2012, I wrote a column about the biggest WWE surprises of 2011 and I wrote this,
"At this time, I would like to mention things I don't expect to happen in the WWE in 2012. I don't expect to see Zack Ryder win the WWE Championship, John Cena turn heel, The Rock become WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes win a World Championship, Kofi Kingston get pushed, Hornswoggle to become interesting, the WWE to go TV-14, Michael Cole leave the announce table, Brock Lesnar return to the WWE, X-Pac return to the WWE, Road Dogg wrestle in a WWE match not including the Royal Rumble, or Drew McIntyre win a championship."
The only things that happened that I did not expect was the return of Lesnar and X-Pac. Overall, my predictions were good so I want to do some 2013 WWE predictions. I will list five things I expect to happen and five things I don't expect to happen.

WWE Christmas

Merry Christmas! WWE loves Christmas. The guest host on RAW this week is Santa Claus. I don't think I have ever seen WWE not celebrate Christmas around this time and because of that, there are many YouTube videos of WWE celebrating Christmas.

  • Team Rhodes Scholars put Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara through the tables and become the WWE Tag Team Championship #1 contenders
  • Kaitlyn is the last Diva in the ring at the end of the "Santa's Helper" No. 1 Contender’s Diva Battle Royal

YouTube Wrestling Match Review: Mankind vs. Al Snow (Smackdown - 12/16/1999)

[Warning: This review will contain spoilers.]

This is my second YouTube Wrestling Match Review. The matches I review in this column need to meet two requirements. One, it has to be a match I have never seen before in its entirely or a match I don't remember watching. Two, it has to be a match that most people have never heard about or a forgotten classic. The last match I reviewed was Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle at No Way Out 2006. Many fans probably heard about it and have seen it before, but it was a match that no one really talks a lot about it so I thought it was a good match to review. This match will be much more obscure. WWE Smackdown has been a mediocre show this year so I want to review a Smackdown match from the Attitude Era. I could have picked a better match-up than Mankind vs. Al Snow, but this match-up is perfect for my review. I think a high percentage of wrestling fans have never seen this match or don't remember watching it. I used to watch Smackdown during the Attitude Era, but I can't remember if I have seen this match. If I did, the last time I saw it was when it first aired back in December of 1999. I used to be a big Mankind fan and I like Al Snow so I'm looking forward to watching (or re-watching) this match.

WWE Survivor Series 2012 Review

Tonight is WWE Survivor Series live on Pay-Per-View. Survivor Series is in Indianapolis, Indiana. That's somewhat close to Chicago, but it's at least two hours away so don't expect a Chicago crowd. I thought about going, but it's a little bit farther away than I thought it was so I won't be there tonight. There are five announced matches on the PPV card and I will preview all of them. I won't preview the pre-show match.

My Review of the WWE Attitude Era DVD Cover

The WWE Attitude Era DVD will be released in 10 days! There is not a content listing yet, but we do know what the cover will look like. I like how the cover includes everyone from the Attitude Era. Or does it include everyone? I am going to take a look at everyone on the cover and see if they missed anyone. I will also check to see if anyone doesn't deserve to be on the cover.

YouTube Wrestling Match Review: Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle (No Way Out 2006)

[Warning: This review will contain spoilers.]

I own a lot of wrestling matches on DVD. Over 500 matches. As much as that seems to me, there are hundreds of matches I don't own and have never seen before. I've been watching wrestling since 1999, but I took a break from 2002 to 2007. During the years I have watched wrestling, I have only seen a handful of Pay-Per-Views that I don't own on DVD. So there are many classic matches I have never seen. I have two options to fix this problem. One, I can buy more DVDs or two, I can search for some of the matches on YouTube. Watching on YouTube is a cheaper option, but it is harder for me to watch matches online than it is to watch them on TV. When I'm on the computer, I can get distracted too much and I will surf the web while the match is happening. But if I am reviewing the match, I focus on the match more. In this column, I will review wrestling matches that are on YouTube and I will only review matches I have never seen before. I have always wanted to see Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle, but I didn't want to buy the No Way Out 2006 DVD. Luckily, this match is on YouTube.

Would You Buy This DVD: CM Punk and Daniel Bryan (Disc Two)

Click HERE to read my review of disc one. This DVD is not a real WWE DVD and is not available for sale. There is a lot of Team Hell No on disc two of the "CM Punk and Daniel Bryan" three disc DVD set. This disc is two and a half hours long.

"CM Punk: Best in the World" DVD/Blu-ray Extra Scenes Review

There are a lot of CM Punk DVD reviews available online right now, but most of them talk about the documentary and the matches. The documentary is awesome and I like the matches, but I think the extra scenes that weren't included in the documentary are fun to watch too. I would recommend the Blu-ray if you have a Blu-ray player because it has more extra scenes than the DVD. I won't be reviewing the documentary or the matches. Those reviews are easy to find. I'm only reviewing the DVD and Blu-ray extra scenes.

VIDEO: Highlights of an Awesome CM Punk Indy Match

I saw CM Punk's documentary from his Best In The World WWE DVD last Thursday night and the documentary had some footage from Punk's early wrestling career. It showed highlights of many matches and one of those matches was CM Punk vs. Chris Hero (Kassius Ohno in the WWE) in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match. It looks like an amazing match and I would love to have the complete match on DVD someday.

UPDATE (October 27, 2012 12:27 PM): I now have the complete match on DVD and it is a ****1/4 match. I would rank it just ahead of CM Punk's Chicago Street Fight at Extreme Rules 2012 against Chris Jericho.

UPDATE #2 (May 4, 2013 11:22 AM): I decided to change my rating. It is a ****1/2 match. It's definitely one of the CM Punk's best matches.

Random Wrestling Match Review (September 30, 2012)

Welcome to my Random Wrestling Match Review. Each match I review is randomly selected by using a random number generator to select a number. After getting my random number, I go to my list of 500+ wrestling matches on DVD and review the match that has that number. This week, I am reviewing match #196 from my list. The match I will review is...

Would You Buy This DVD: CM Punk and Daniel Bryan (Disc One)

This is my second column for Would You Buy This DVD. Click HERE to see the first one. These DVDs are not real and are not available for sale, but if they were, would you buy them? This time I'm focusing on a three disc set featuring the best of CM Punk and Daniel Bryan from this year.

Five Classic WWE Matches That Didn't Happen

There has been many classic WWE matches, but unfortunately there are matches that probably would have been classics and they never happened. Maybe they happened in an alternative universe, but not in this universe. Maybe in an alternative universe, Sting joined the WWE and we saw Sting vs. The Undertaker at WrestleMania 28 instead of Undertaker vs. HHH for the third time. Here are five classic WWE matches that were supposed to happen or could have happened, but didn't happen.

Random Wrestling Match Review (August 26, 2012)

Welcome to my Random Wrestling Match Review. Each match I review is randomly selected by using a random number generator to select a number. After getting my random number, I go to my list of 500+ wrestling matches on DVD and review the match that has that number. This week, I am randomly reviewing a WWE match I have never seen before. Earlier this month, I purchased a few WWE DVDs and the DVDs had several matches I had not seen. So I made a list of all of the unseen matches from those DVDs. The match I will review is...

WWE Photo of the Day: Daniel Bryan Chokes a Fan

"Do I look like Justin Roberts?!"

[Author's Note: I don't know exactly where or when this photo was taken, but I'm 90% sure it was taken during Daniel Bryan's indy tour after he was released from the WWE for the "Tie Choke Incident". I attended one of his indy shows and fans were asking Daniel Bryan to choke them with the ties they brought to the event. So, I think this photo was taken at one of those events. I would have brought a tie with me if I knew Daniel Bryan would be willing to reenact the thing that got him fired.]

Random Wrestling Match Review (August 5, 2012)

Welcome to my Random Wrestling Match Review. Each match I review is randomly selected by using a random number generator to select a number. How I Would Book It: The AJ and Daniel Bryan Wedding

Welcome to How I Would Book It. This is not a prediction column. I'm not trying to predict what will happen during "The Wedding of AJ & Daniel Bryan" on this Monday's 1,000th episode of RAW. I'm writing about what I would do if I was given the opportunity to run the segment. Every wedding in the WWE doesn't have a happy ending. How will this wedding ceremony end? This is how I would book the AJ and Daniel Bryan wedding.

My Favorite RAW Moments

This Monday is the 1,000th episode of WWE Monday Night RAW. To celebrate this amazing achievement, I decided to post my favorite RAW moments. I picked ten moments and they will appear in the order of when they happened. I picked moments that I remember happening when it happened and not moments that I discovered on YouTube many years later. I started watching RAW in 1999 so there won't be anything before 1999 and there won't be anything between 2002 and 2007 because I rarely watched RAW during that time period. These moments are not the best RAW moments. They are my favorite RAW moments. If you notice several important RAW moments missing from this article, it is because I didn't see it when it happened (Stone Cold giving McMahon the stunner for the first time) or because I appreciate it now more than I did when it happened (Chris Jericho's debut in 1999 and his heel turn in 2008) or because I didn't like it as much as everyone else did (Bret Hart's return to the WWE in 2010).

Ten Signs You Might Be a Wrestling Fan

WWE Money in the Bank 2012 Preview

Video: Scotty 2 Hotty Returns to the WWE

Scotty 2 Hotty made an appearance at a WWE NXT taping on July 12. Will he be appearing at the 1,000th episode of RAW? For those who do not know who Scotty 2 Hotty is, he was a member of a tag team called Too Cool during WWE's Attitude Era. His tag team partner was Grandmaster Sexay who is the real life son of Jerry "The King" Lawler. Scotty 2 Hotty made his first WWE appearance in 1991, his main stint with the WWE started in 1998. He didn't leave the WWE until 2007, but Scotty 2 Hotty wasn't used much on RAW and Smackdown after 2004.

Undertaker Expected to Appear at the 1,000th Episode of RAW

According to the TV Guide listings page for July 23 in this week's issue,
"Raw's 1000th episode is celebrated. Triple H, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels are expected to appear, as well as Roddy Piper, Gene Okerlund and other legendary figures from the series."
Triple H was interviewed by TV Guide and talked about how WWE is able to continue to draw good ratings after 1,000 episodes of RAW. Triple H said,"Because we're live and in front of a crowd, we are able to keep our fingers on the pulse of what our audience wants to see. If you look at Raw from 1,000 episodes ago, it's a lot different than it is today. We're much more PG programming now."

WWE Superstars Predictions 2012 Part One

Last month, I posted an update on WWE predictions that I made in 2010. After revisiting those predictions, I decided that I have to do a new prediction column and include WWE Superstars that I didn't include in the 2010 predictions. I am going to do predictions on everyone in the WWE including superstars that don't wrestle very often.

There are a lot of people on the WWE roster so this is Part One of my predictions. I hope to have Part Two finished next week.

WWE Real Names

The current World Champions in the WWE are Phil Brooks and Steephen Farrelly. Oh sorry...I meant CM Punk and Sheamus. Believe it or not, most of the WWE roster use names that aren't their real name. Several of these names are well known. Many people know that Triple H is Paul Levesque, Undertaker is Mark Calaway, Chris Jericho is Chris Irvine, Kane is Glenn Jacobs, and Big Show is Paul Wight. Most of the wrestlers in the WWE don't use their real name. The few wrestlers that actually use their real name include John Cena, Randy Orton, Mark Henry, and David Otunga. There is a long list of wrestlers whose WWE name is different than their real name.

I have complied a list of the real names of current WWE Superstars and employees. The WWE name will appear in parenthesis after each real name.

My favorite WWE matches I have seen at WWE Live Events Part Two

[Editor's Note: This is an update of an article I posted in 2011. Click HERE to read part one. I have seen about a dozen more matches at WWE live events since I posted part one.]

For this list, I have included every WWE match I have ever seen except for dark matches and house show matches. Basically, any match that was not televised or shown on YouTube is not on my list.

Ranking these matches were difficult. I didn't rank them based on how good they were...I ranked them based on how much I enjoyed them. All of the WWE live events I have gone to were in Chicago, IL at the Allstate Arena.

What I said about WWE Superstars in 2010

I wrote this on August 18, 2010. I wrote about where I thought the RAW superstars will be in 5 or 10 years. I only wrote about RAW superstars so no CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Christian, Dolph Ziggler, Kane, or Rey Mysterio. It's not five years yet, but let's see which of the predictions could be correct in 2015 and which predictions are already wrong. In a few weeks, I might write a new prediction column about today's superstars. New comments will be in bold.

WWE No Way Out Preview

Welcome to my No Way Out preview. I will be previewing each match on the card and giving my predictions. No Way Out will take place in East Rutherford, New Jersey at the IZOD Center which hosted SummerSlam three times. There are currently six matches scheduled for the Pay-Per-View and one Pre-Show match. The matches will be listed in the order I expect them to occur during the PPV.

Video: AJ meets Lita

Check out this video I found yesterday. It's current WWE Diva AJ Lee meeting former WWE Diva Lita. This video is at least 10 years old (I know that because it has the WWF logo in the corner). That means AJ was a teenager when she met Lita. AJ is 25 years old now.

Go to 00:20 and 00:53 on the video.

That is Not TV-PG: Undertaker Disciplines Christian

I'm starting another new column. Welcome to That is Not TV-PG. I will be posting WWE YouTube videos that would never happen now during the "PG Era". My first That is Not TV-PG video includes the Undertaker and the current WWE Intercontinental Champion Christian.

Warning: Video is not TV-PG. Viewer discretion is advised.

The Keg Stand: Five Things I Dislike About the WWE Right Now

I haven't enjoyed watching the WWE lately. I'm not going to stop watching because I'm not going to make that mistake twice, but I want to enjoy what I'm watching. I would enjoy watching the WWE more if they fix and improve few things. Here are five thing I dislike about the WWE right now.

WWE Photo of the Day: Jerry Lawler is Happy

Editor's Note: Because of the John Cena vs. Michael Cole main event from last night on RAW, there are some funny photos available on WWE.com today. I found four good ones, but I'll post one each day instead of all in one post.

Jerry Lawler: "Yes!! Cena lost!"
Note: That is John Cena in the ring. He's on the ground and it looks like he just lost, but actually Cena won his match against Tensai on RAW. Jerry Lawler did not turn heel and Greenville, South Carolina did not turn smarky.

WWE Extreme Rules 2012 DVD Review

My WWE DVD collection continues to grow. The newest WWE DVD I purchased was WWE Extreme Rules 2012. I buy WWE Pay Per View DVDs for all of the WWE PPVs I attend so I had to buy this DVD. Extreme Rules was in Chicago this year and I was one of the 14,817 fans in the Allstate Arena that night. I am going to review this DVD which is not the same as reviewing a WWE Event. WWE PPV DVDs are made over a month after the PPV so that gives them plenty of time to edit it. For example, a fan giving the finger to Vince McMahon was edited out of the Money in the Bank 2011 DVD. Here is my review of the WWE Extreme Rules 2012 DVD.

Would You Buy This DVD: The Best of CM Punk - July 2011 to March 2012

Something I like doing is creating my own WWE DVDs. I think I have created 12 of them. I have decided to make a new column about my custom-made WWE DVDs. One of my most recent DVDs is "The Best of CM Punk - July 2011 to March 2012". In this column, I will tell you what is on my DVD.

Did You Know? (May 25, 2012)

Did you know that Daniel Bryan's first word in the WWE was "yes"? Daniel Bryan's first spoken word in the WWE was the same word he is the most famous for. Daniel Bryan made his WWE debut on the first ever episode of WWE NXT in 2010. Below is the video of Daniel Bryan's WWE debut and the first time he said "yes" in the WWE. Skip to 1:05.

WWE Over The Limit PPV Preview

Welcome to my WWE Over The Limit Pay-Per-View preview. I am going to preview and predict the outcome of each match. The matches are in order of when I expect them to occur. There are currently six matches and I have included two unadvertised matches (predicted matches...no spoilers) in my PPV preview.

WWE Photo of the Day: Layla at Extreme Rules 2012

I'm planning to do a "WWE Photo of the Day" at least once a week. I am going to try to get real WWE photos and not fan-made images that are WWE related or photos that are fake. The photo in this column isn't from WWE.com (and it's technically a screenshot), but I will make it a goal to get all photos directly from the WWE website. I'll try to post interesting photos and most of the time, I'll just photos that I think look very funny.

Chicago fans are the best WWE fans in the world.

CM Punk Sings "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" at Chicago Cubs Game

If you don't live in Chicago or don't follow the Chicago Cubs, you might not have known that CM Punk sang the 7th Inning Stretch at the Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves game on May 8th at Wrigley Field. CM Punk is the best in the world at everything he does (sorry Chris Jericho) and he's the best singer in the world too (not really...maybe the best "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" singer who is also a WWE Superstar). I think CM Punk is only the second WWE Superstar to sing the 7th Inning Stretch at Wrigley Field. The first was "Macho Man" Randy Savage in 1999. Another professional wrestler who once sang the 7th Inning Stretch at Wrigley is Steve "Mongo" McMichael. Mongo is a former Chicago Bear, but he is also a former member of WCW (1995-1999) and a former husband of Debra "Puppies" Marshall.

WWE Extreme Rules Preview

How I Would Book It: The Match Stipulation for Cody Rhodes vs. Big Show

It is not official yet, but it looks like there will be a Cody Rhodes vs. Big Show match at the WWE Extreme Rules Pay Per View on April 29th. I am not really excited about the match. I like Big Show, but he is not one of my favorite in-ring performers. As for Cody, I think he's a good worker but I also think he's overrated. The good thing about Extreme Rules is that every match has a special match stipulation. So despite a bad match-up and a mediocre storyline, they can still have a decent match if they have the right stipulation. What is the right stipulation for this match? I will look at three possible options.

The History of Brock Lesnar at WWE Pay Per Views

On April 29, 2012, Brock Lesnar will face John Cena at WWE Extreme Rules. If my research is correct, it will be his 23rd Pay Per View match not including United Kingdom exclusive PPVs. I never saw Brock Lesnar compete on PPV during his first stint with the WWE and I think some people might have forgotten those PPV matches because they were so long ago. I decided to post the complete history of Brock Lesnar on PPV in the WWE. This will be a mixture of highlights and complete matches.

Sunday, April 15, 2012

The Keg Stand: Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus Will Have an Interesting Match at Extreme Rules

The WWE Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View will be in Chicago on April 29. The Chicago crowd has a history of cheering the heel opponents of babyface champions. Some famous examples are WWE Champion John Cena vs. Triple H at WrestleMania 22, Women's Champion Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James at WrestleMania 22, and WWE Champion John Cena vs. CM Punk at Money in the Bank 2011. Other examples include Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho at Judgment Day 2009 and World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton vs. Christian at Money in the Bank 2011. After Extreme Rules, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan will be added to that list.

WrestleMania 28 Review

Is it too late for a WrestleMania 28 review? I hope not. For the first time in my life, I watched an entire WrestleMania live as it happened. Not in Miami, but in a sports bar. It was a fun event and I decided to review and give my reaction to each match.

WrestleMania 28 Preview- Sun Life Stadium

[Editor's Note: After today, I will be on vacation and without computer access. The earliest I will get back onto a computer is Thursday March 29.]

I decided to preview Sun Life Stadium. That's where WrestleMania 28 will be held. Sun Life Stadium can hold over 75,000 fans. WrestleMania 27 had 71,617 fans. I'm curious to see what WrestleMania 28 will look like because it will be outdoors just like WrestleMania 24. I hope it doesn't rain!

WrestleMania 28 Preview- Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos vs. Beth Phoenix and Eve

Today, I'm previewing the divas match at WrestleMania 28. I'm not really excited about this match, but I want to preview every match.

WrestleMania 28 Preview- Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan

Today, I'm previewing Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan for the World Heavyweight Championship. Like the Triple H vs. Undertaker match, this is a WrestleMania rematch. These two wrestled in the dark match of WrestleMania 27. The match was not shown during the event, but it was an extra feature on the WrestleMania 27 DVD.

WrestleMania 28 Preview- The Rock vs. John Cena

Today, I'm previewing the main event match...The Rock vs. John Cena. This is a tough match to preview because these two wrestlers have never faced each other in a match. However, I will post videos of two matches that might help you know what to expect during the match.

WrestleMania 28 Preview- Triple H vs. Undertaker W/ Special Ref Shawn Michaels (Hell in a Cell)

I am previewing another WrestleMania 28 match. Today, I'm previewing Triple H vs. Undertaker. I could show you the video of their WrestleMania 27 match, but that match was only a year ago and everyone knows about that match. Instead, I am going to post the match that the WWE doesn't want you to remember...Triple H vs. Undertaker at WrestleMania X-Seven.

WrestleMania 28 Preview- Big Show vs. Cody Rhodes

Welcome to another WrestleMania 28 Preview. Today, I'm giving you a sneak preview of Big Show vs. Cody Rhodes. When Big Show and Cody Rhodes face each other at WrestleMania 28, it will not be a "first-time ever" match. Big Show and Cody Rhodes had a match on Smackdown on December 31, 2010.
