"CM Punk: Best in the World" DVD/Blu-ray Extra Scenes Review

There are a lot of CM Punk DVD reviews available online right now, but most of them talk about the documentary and the matches. The documentary is awesome and I like the matches, but I think the extra scenes that weren't included in the documentary are fun to watch too. I would recommend the Blu-ray if you have a Blu-ray player because it has more extra scenes than the DVD. I won't be reviewing the documentary or the matches. Those reviews are easy to find. I'm only reviewing the DVD and Blu-ray extra scenes.

Special Features on DVD and Blu-ray

High School Sports - CM Punk talks about how he wanted to try out for sports in high school and the reactions he got from the coaches when they saw how he looked.

CM Punk – the Name - The title of this extra describes what it is about. CM Punk tells the story of how he got his wrestling name. He talks about what "CM" originally meant and what it means now.

Skull Fracture - This was an interesting extra on CM Punk's skull fracture that he got as an indy wrestler. This feature shows how Punk got injured and Punk tells the story of what happened during and after the injury. Colt Cabana was interviewed during this extra.

OVW vs. Albright - This is a deleted scene that shouldn't have been deleted. Maybe WWE felt that viewers wouldn't care about Punk's OVW career, but I enjoyed watching this extra. It talked about Punk's feud with Brent Albright in OVW and they said it was Punk's biggest feud in OVW. The people interviewed in the extra (one of them was Paul Heyman I think) said that Punk and Albright would have matches that were a lot longer than the average OVW match. It made me more interested in watching the Punk vs. Albright that was included as one of the matches on the DVD.

From Extra to Champion - This extra talks about how CM Punk first appeared in WWE as one of the extras in John Cena's WrestleMania 22 entrance. Cena is interviewed and talks about how amazing it is that Punk was one of the guys in his WrestleMania entrance and then five years later, Punk is facing Cena for the WWE Championship in the same arena that hosted WrestleMania 22.

December to Dismember - Paul Heyman and CM Punk talk about the December to Dismember ECW Pay-Per-View. Heyman mentions that one week before the PPV, Punk got a positive crowd reaction during Survivor Series in Philadelphia. Heyman had an idea of CM Punk becoming ECW Champion at the PPV, but WWE decided to make Bobby Lashley the champion. This was another extra that I think should have been included in the documentary. It shouldn't have been deleted.

1st Impressions - CM Punk's friends and wrestling co-workers talks about their first impressions when they met Punk for the first time. It's worth watching once, but it wasn't one of the best extras on the DVD.

In-Ring Style - CM Punk talks about stealing his Go To Sleep finisher from Japan and not changing the name of the move.

It’s Clobbering Time - CM Punk talks about why he says "It's clobbering time" during his ring entrance.

The Hat - CM Punk talks about his Chicago Cubs cap that he wears all the time. He says he hasn't worn the same hat all these years. Some of his hats were retired or got destroyed and he replaced them with new ones.

“The Most Insulting Thing You Could Say To Me” - CM Punk reveals the original WrestleMania 27 plans before he became Randy Orton's opponent. Punk talks about something that was said to him during the road to WrestleMania 27 and he called it “The Most Insulting Thing You Could Say To Me”.

A Conversation with Lars - During the documentary, it is revealed that conversations with Joey Mercury and Lars Frederiksen helped CM Punk decide to sign a new contract with WWE. Mercury talks about his conversation during the documentary and this extra is Lars talking about his conversation. The Lars conversation was more interesting than the Mercury conversation so I don't know why this got deleted. I guess it's because Mercury kept his story short and Lars went into more detail than Mercury did. This was a great extra.

Title in the Fridge - CM Punk tells a story about how he left the Allstate Arena immediately after winning the WWE Championship at Money in the Bank 2011. The first thing Punk did when he got home was go to the fridge to get something to drink and that's how the title ended up in his fridge. He took a photo of it and posted it online.

Natalie’s T-Shirt - CM Punk says that the t-shirt he wore for his street fight with Chris Jericho at Extreme Rules 2012 in Chicago was a shirt that used to belong to his friend Natalie. Punk got a text message from Natalie and she asked Punk if that was her shirt. This is a short extra, but it's good to watch one time.

“Teenage Anarchist” - This is a music video of CM Punk with the song "I Was a Teenage Anarchist" by Against Me! playing during the video. Good video and good song.

Blu-ray Exclusive Content

No Plan B - CM Punk talks about how his goal was to become a wrestler and he didn't want to do anything else.

Saxophone - CM Punk talks about being in the school band and playing the saxophone when he was younger.

Easter Greeting - CM Punk's friend Natalie tells a funny story about her mom trying to give CM Punk an Easter basket and Punk said, "Fuck Easter".

Chicken Wings and Apple Pie - Colt Cabana talks about CM Punk eating chicken wings and McDonald's apple pie when he was younger because he thought it was good food to eat when training to be a wrestler. That food might help Ryback, but it didn't help Punk.

Most Recognizable Tattoo - I'm doing this review by memory, but I think this extra talked about Punk's Pepsi tattoo.

Fish Tattoo - Natalie tells a story about Punk eating a horrible meal that had fish in it that she bought at Whole Foods or some place like that. Punk ate it just because Natalie was upset she paid so much for food that tasted bad. Natalie and Punk both got fish tattoos so they would always remember that day.

Traveling with Ace - This extra was about the pranks Punk and Ace would do when traveling on the road.

No Microphone - This was about CM Punk's classic "You dumb bitch, I'm not holding a microphone!" promo that he did in IWA. If you have never seen that promo, go to YouTube and search "CM Punk Invisible Microphone". I saw that promo before this DVD came out and I think I like it more than The Promo on RAW in Las Vegas last year.

ECW Arena Match - This is one of my favorite extras on the Blu-ray. Colt Cabana (I can't remember if Punk was interviewed during this extra) tells a story of Punk and him traveling from Chicago to Philadelphia to do a match at the ECW Arena and then traveling to Milwaukee from Philly because they were booked to perform at an indy show the next day. The story Colt told was very funny.

Hanging with Eddie Guerrero - This was a great story and this one was told by Ace Steel. Eddie Guerrero didn't have anywhere to go after he worked a indy show with Punk and Steel so they let Eddie stay at their place.

Trainer - CM Punk talked about being a trainer for Ring of Honor.

Driving Away With the Title - Punk's best friend Chez talks about the night CM Punk "stole" the world championship title from Ring of Honor and she drove with CM Punk to New York City right after he won the title and left the building.

Wrestling Camp - This extra is William Regal talking about CM Punk attending Regal's wrestling camp.

“They’re Gonna Hate Me” - CM Punk talks about one of his try-out matches with WWE. Mickie James was his manager during the match and he knew the fans would hate him because he was a weird looking guy with colored hair (I think his hair was purple) and Mickie James was a very attractive woman. I liked this extra because it showed footage of the try-out match.

Six People, One Room - CM Punk tells a funny story about how he and five other WWE Superstars tried to book one hotel room. The guy at the hotel overcharged Punk, but he gave a cheaper price to former WWE diva Cherry so they decided to rib the guy.

I’m a Paul Heyman Guy - Paul Heyman talks about where he was when CM Punk mentioned his name on RAW during The Promo in Las Vegas last year.

The Marathon - CM Punk tells a story of running the Chicago Marathon one day after he was in Australia and one day before CM Punk appeared on RAW in Oklahoma.

@CMPunk - CM Punk talks about Twitter.

The Bus Tour - This is exactly what the title suggests. Punk gives a tour of his bus that he uses to travel to and from each WWE event.

Kofi’s Challenge - Kofi Kingston challenged CM Punk to a game of Street Fighter while in CM Punk's bus.

WrestleMania Day - This is my favorite extra. It is all about what CM Punk did on the day of WrestleMania 28. It shows how his day started and ended. This extra has behind the scenes footage from WrestleMania 28 that was probably never before seen. This extra is like ten minutes long and it is very enjoyable to watch.

A Day at the Ball Field - CM Punk threw out the first pitch and sang the 7th inning stretch at a Cubs game in Wrigley Field earlier this year. The WWE camera crew documented the entire day.

True Respect - Paul Heyman talks about how much respect he has for CM Punk. I knew Heyman had respect for Punk, but it is a lot more than I expected.

If all of the extra scenes were included in the documentary, it would have been over three hours. I don't think all of them should have been added to the documentary, but a lot of them shouldn't have been deleted. I think an uncut version of the documentary would be enjoyed a lot by CM Punk fans because none of the extra scenes are bad or boring. I watched all of the extras in one night because they will so enjoyable to watch. If you buy the DVD or Blu-ray, watch the documentary and the matches, but don't skip any of the extra scenes.

    1. The same one that's on the DVD? I think there was a lot of Punk/Albright matches. The one on the DVD is the final match of the OVW World Heavyweight Championship tournament. I haven't watched all of that match yet but I want to. Maybe I'll watch it tonight.
