I'm back with another Keg Stand. I was able to find five topics I can rant and rave about this week.
Kevin Nash attacks Triple H on Monday Night RAW
Wow, finally RAW felt unsuitable for kids again. This Monday's RAW showed Kevin Nash attacking Triple H and then Nash attacked Triple H again with a sledgehammer right before Triple H entered an ambulance. It looked like TV-14 violence and after the attack, someone near the action actually asked, "Does he have a pulse?" which would imply that he thought Triple H might have been dead. I'm sure if you are allowed to show attempted murder on a TV-PG show.
Here's the video of that attack:
It's nice to see the WWE show some dark stuff. I hope they continuing doing stuff like that. It was not as dark as "Brian Pillman's got a gun" but I enjoyed it.
CM Punk is feuding with Alberto Del Rio
On last Monday's RAW, it was revealed that CM Punk could be the next #1 contender for Alberto Del Rio's WWE Championship. According to wwe.com, RAW GM John Laurinaitis has said that CM Punk will earn a WWE Championship match at Survivor Series if he can defeat Mark Henry on this Monday's RAW.
Here is Laurinaitis's full statement:
"After giving this CM Punk situation serious consideration, I've reached a decision. In my deliberations as Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and Interim General Manager of Raw, I concluded that although Punk is extremely talented, he has lost several matches recently. As a result, I've decided that he must prove he's worthy of a WWE Title opportunity. This Monday night, Punk must compete against World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry. If Punk wins, he will face Alberto Del Rio for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series. I wish both men a good match."
This will be interesting because Mark Henry looks to be unstoppable. I don't know how CM Punk will do it but I think he will somehow defeat Mark Henry and become the #1 contender. Right now, CM Punk is the best opponent for Del Rio. I hope CM Punk can win the WWE Championship soon and if he does, I hope he can finally get to be the undisputed WWE Champion for more than one day. I'm looking forward to seeing how CM Punk handles the responsibility of being the WWE Champion.
Michael Cole and Jim Ross continue their feud
Michael Cole invited Jim Ross to compete in the Michael Cole Challenge on RAW last Monday. Jim Ross has accepted on Twitter and the Challenge will happen at this Monday's RAW. Cole said that he will quit as an announcer if he loses to JR. I'm excited about seeing JR on RAW again and I like that Cole's job will be on the line but I'm afraid that JR will be embarrassed again. I want to see JR on RAW every week but not if he is going to look bad. It's too bad that the WWE continues to embarrass one of their Hall of Famers. I'm going to give the WWE one more chance to make things right but if this Monday ends up being a bad night for JR, I think it is time that JR stops showing up on RAW.
The Rock's return to the ring with John Cena as his partner has not yet been officially announced
What the hell is going on? A month ago, I read reports that said that The Rock would be appearing at Survivor Series and would be teaming with John Cena. The photo I posted above this paragraph is an image that The Rock posted on his Twitter account in September. The Rock also posted it on his Facebook account. Around that same time, WWE.com confirmed the match by saying, "WWE sources have confirmed that The Rock and John Cena will be a part of a Traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series Tag Team Match." Then recently, the WWE started airing this promo video during commercial breaks:
So The Rock and John Cena teaming together in a match at Survivor Series is official right? On last Monday's RAW, it was revealed that the match is not official at all. John Cena was given the choice to pick his tag team partner against The Miz and R-Truth for a match at Survivor Series which was odd because it was confirmed in September by the WWE that Cena's partner would be The Rock. As expected, John Cena picked The Rock. However, now the WWE is saying that The Rock will decide if he will accept or decline Cena's invitation on RAW next Monday. This is really confusing. How can the WWE tease that the match might not happen when it has already been confirmed by more than one source? Why tell fans to buy tickets to see "The Rock and John Cena join forces" and then tell them to wait for The Rock's decision? First of all, I don't like how the WWE makes it seem like Cena "picked" The Rock when really the WWE picked him last September and The Rock already confirmed it. I know the WWE had to find a way to officially announce it on TV but this way is ridiculous. They announced The Rock and Cena's WrestleMania match months in advance so why are they ignoring the fact that they have announced the Survivor Series match over a month in advance? We didn't know it would be a two-on-two tag match versus The Miz and R-Truth but we knew The Rock and Cena would be on the same team. I'm really disappointed at the WWE for making RAW predictable. Anyone who follows Twitter and WWE.com knew that Cena would pick The Rock last Monday and we all know that The Rock will accept Cena's invitation this Monday. I know Dirtsheets spoil storylines often but those are just unofficial rumors that I never 100% believe until the WWE officially confirms it. This wasn't a rumor. The Rock's return to the ring with John Cena as his partner was confirmed by the WWE and The Rock. The WWE wants their fans to follow the WWE on their website, on Twitter, and on Facebook so why did they confirm a match on the internet and pretend that it is breaking news when it was announced on TV one month later? I'm okay with the WWE making early announcements for big events but I don't like them telling me that The Rock might not compete at Survivor Series when it has been announced that he will. Stuff like that makes RAW predictable and that kind of stuff makes people change the channel.
Good matches on Friday Night Smackdown this week
I don't always enjoy watching Smackdown but I enjoyed watching Smackdown last Friday. Three of the five matches were good matches. Not only were the matches good, but most of the Superstars on Smackdown were Superstars that should be huge stars in the future. The only veterans in the five matches were R-Truth, Randy Orton, and Christian. The rest were all Superstars that are currently or soon-to-be rising stars in the WWE. It was great to see Trent Barreta and Tyson Kidd get matches on TV. It was great to see Wade Barrett, Daniel Bryan, and CM Punk pick up impressive victories. Dolph Ziggler lost his match but he looked very good against Randy Orton who is a main event star in the WWE. Superstars like Rey Mysterio, John Cena, Christian, Kane, Mark Henry, and the Big Show are no longer rising stars in the WWE and many of them will likely retire within the next three to five years. Triple H and Undertaker are very close to being retired from the WWE. Also, the WWE shouldn't have to rely on former Superstars like The Rock, Mick Foley, Stone Cold, Shawn Michaels, and Chris Jericho to increase ratings. It's good to see those legends but the main reason fans want to see them is because they would rather see the old stars than the young stars. It is time to start pushing the younger talent and it was great to see the younger talent get a chance to shine on Smackdown.
Halloween is this Monday so before I end this "Keg Stand", I want to share a very scary photo...KANE WITH HAIR!!!
The last time Kane had hair, he also had a...mask. Could it be?
ReplyDeletehe had a lot more hair that though. He should definitely return tomorrow and scare the shit out of the Muppets with his mask...lol.
ReplyDeleteKane vs. Animal!
ReplyDeletewhat did you think of my rant on the WWE? Should I be upset or is it no big deal?
ReplyDeleteHonestly, with the whole internet spoiler situation going today, it was going to be known whether or not WWE just came out and said it. Personally, I'd like to see Rock and Black Cena team up to swerve the fans...lol! I think Black Cena should be back by the time SS comes around.
ReplyDeleteYou're right so why did the WWE and The Rock need to officially confirm it when they knew the dirtsheets would do it for them?
ReplyDeleteFor "kayfabe"? It's still real to them, damn it!!!
