Sin Cara: Mexico’s Power Rangers by Chadam

We all know that Sin Cara 1 and 2 are from Mexico. It’s also no secret that aliens have a rich history in and around Mexico. Sin Cara shares a color coded scheme similar to the Power Rangers.  It’s also common knowledge that The Power Rangers got their powers from a…wait for it…ALIEN. That’s a pretty weak string of evidence right? Not as weak as you might think.

In the original Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, color played a major role in representing the characters personality traits and fighting styles; Red for strength and leadership, Green for an envious/jealous enemy, Pink for ultra-feminine, Yellow for feminine yet tough, Blue for intelligent, and finally Black for solidity and/or fluidity. Since the only 2 Sin Caras are Blue and Black (for now), they will be my main focus.

First, let’s cover the Blue Sin Cara. I understand that when you see him perform, “Intelligence” isn’t the first thing you think of, but let’s go a little deeper than first appearances. If you were to get a job in the WWE, what’s the smartest thing you could think to do? Exactly, align yourself with Triple H, the man that is being groomed to take over day to day operations. As we have seen, this has allowed Sin Cara to get away with things that would have gotten other superstars fired. Let’s go back a bit further than that to how he even got his job in the first place. How many of us could walk into a place of business, not speaking one word of the native language, get a job with them, and be thrust into their spotlight and be trusted to deliver? That had to be done with a very intelligent way of selling yourself. This intelligence would come into play with a full stable as he would naturally be the brains of the group. Using his smarts, he would be able to play mind games and get into the head of his opponents.

Secondly, we come to the Black Sin Cara, solid and fluid. While those may seem like opposites, just watch his matches. I know I’m not the only one that has noticed the fact that Black Sin Cara’s matches are more flowing, with less botches and his arsenal seems more solid, lethal, and damaging than his compatriot. Another thing to point out about this version is that he seems infinitely more confident and sure of himself than the Blue Sin Cara. He seems to know what he wants and just goes out and has the physical presence to just take it. This solidity in his personality would be very useful in a Sin Cara/Power Rangers stable, as he would be used as an anchor and enforcer of the group.

With the many personalities of all the possible Sin Caras, the WWE has a possible “Faceless” Power Rangers-like stable. I, for one, would find this interesting. At least we could have real superheroes wrestling instead of a robot built in the likeness of one. If only they could find some way to get the other Sin Caras to stop fighting otherworldly crime down in Mexico and give wrestling a try.

  1. Im tossing around an idea for a 3rd column, which is a complete departure from the mindset I used going into my first 2 articles. I think it will still be alot of fun though.
