This blog will be renamed to "Wrestling Pipe Bombs" in 2012

"It's funny to me that Vince is bending over backward to give me everything I've ever wanted, when all I've ever wanted is this little microphone. See, this, this is power. This voice...this is power. In anybody else's hands, this is a microphone. In my hands, it's a pipe bomb."-CM Punk on WWE Monday Night RAW (July 11, 2011)

I had a really hard time thinking of a new name for my blog but I finally thought of a decent name. In 2012, this blog will be known as Wrestling Pipe Bombs. I thought it would be cool if I could think of a blog name with a CM Punk reference so I like this name. CM Punk's "pipe bomb" is his microphone and he uses that pipe bomb to express his opinions about the WWE. My "pipe bomb" is my computer keyboard and my opinions aren't as strong as Punk but I do have strong opinions about the WWE. I'm not afraid to criticize them. It's not a perfect comparison and it's probably not the best blog name but it's good enough.

The new web address will be www.wrestlingpipebombs.blogspot.com (I already claimed the name) and I plan on making the change on January 1, 2012. Consider this post to be your two week's notice. The only change I'm making is the web address and the blog name. That's it. It will be the same location with the same design.

Here's what to expect on this blog later this week (subject to change):

Friday- WWE Smackdown Review
Saturday- Random Wrestling Match Review
Sunday- The Keg Stand: Can Kevin Nash and Triple H have a good match at TLC

  1. @ Tony: As a wrestling fan, I love it! It has a snap to it and it's easy to remember. But...looking at it from the POV of a non-wrestling fan, "pipebomb" in the name could set off some red flags to certain authorities. I can just picture The Patriot Act being used to keep tabs due to the name. Plus, keep tabs on readers who may google the site. Whenever a bombing, shooting, etc. happens, investigators look at website databases with key words in it and you could find yourself being questioned. Maybe, I'm overthinking this and I hope I am, but you might want to reconsider the name. Perhaps "dynamicdudesfanclub.blogspot"?

I think I should be fine. I don't think many people know this but one person on the internet thinks CM Punk's "Pipe Bomb" quote was a reference to a band called "This Bike Is a Pipe Bomb". That said, I looked them up on Wikipedia and I saw, "On March 2, 2006 at 5:30 am an Ohio University police officer spotted a bicycle attached to the Oasis restaurant bearing a promotional sticker for the band. The officer saw the words, "This Bike Is a Pipe Bomb" and became concerned. The area was cordoned off, and part of the campus was closed for several hours. The bicycle was subsequently destroyed by the Athens bomb squad despite assurances from the bike's owner that it was just a sticker. The owner, a graduate student, was initially charged with inducing panic, a misdemeanor. However, the charges were dropped a few days later. Later the student was awarded money for the damages to his bicycle."

Interesting story but all that means it that I shouldn't be attaching "My blog is a pipe bomb" stickers to bikes or anything else. As you can see, the guy didn't get in any trouble and even got compensation for his destroyed bike.

If the WWE, a PG show, can name one of their awards "Pipe Bomb of the Year" then I should be able to put "pipe bomb" in my title especially since it will have "wrestling" in front of it. I'm not referring to an actual "pipe bomb"...it is simply a tribute to CM Punk. "Wrestling Pepsi" doesn't make any sense.

I think some of your concerns are exaggerated. I'm going to put the CM Punk quote under the title and if your CIA buddies think I'm still talking about real pipe bombs after they read that then they are really looking hard for leads. It's just a tribute to CM Punk. I'd reconsider if I could think of a good alternative name but I can't. This name is my plan A, B, and C. The other possible names I thought of are more "safe" but they all suck.

For what it's worth, there is a website called Sports Bomb Network. They seem to be doing fine. I worry for this country if investigators are using Google to help them investigate attacks. That's dumb if they look at a blog called "Wrestling Pipe Bombs" that is merely a tribute to a quote that a pro wrestler and somehow consider that to be a possible lead to finding out who is responsible for an attack.

The only thing that worries me the slightest bit is that two blogs with names I was considering have no more than two posts. They are pipebomb.blogspot.coom and pipebomb.blogspot.com. I don't like how both of them stopped posting after only two posts but I believe the majority of blog owners either make several posts or very few posts. Also, why is the blog still up if there is something wrong with it?

I'm not too worried about it. I thought about it but this is the only name I like and I don't think it will be too much of a problem. It's just a name...nothing more than that.

  6. @ Alan

It's a reference to a CM Punk quote.

    @ Chadam

Smooth's name suggestion is too wordy.

  7. Love the name! Very creative!

Have you ever thought of buying a domain name? It would be Worthed IMO.

  9. @ Tony: I really hope I'm thinking too much about it. I've been very cautious about things like that, because back in 2006, my former coworker and her family were about to board an airplane and got stopped, because HER 4 YEAR OLD SON WAS ON THE TERROR WATCH LIST! It's a pretty wide net they use and they don't fuck around. Wish you all the luck in the world. Do I need to bring any e-snacks to the site's grand opening party?

I thought a little bit of buying a domain name but what's the point? To make money? The way I see it, I would be paying money just to have a slightly shorter web name. I know it's not expensive but I'd rather not have to worry about paying a fee every year to keep the name. My main focus has always been on the content of the blog...not the design or not the web address. This is just a hobby...I'm not sure how much of a long-term commitment I will give to this blog. I just started it in late April.

I appreciate your concerns and I agree it's definitely not something to ignore but I think I'll be fine. My blog will be strictly about wrestling...and the name will be connected to CM Punk and not the actual WMD. Like I mentioned, the WWE doesn't seem too worried about using that name and they are a PG company that usually avoids phrases that might bring controversy.

  12. @ Tony: Yeah, WWE's odd about that. Yes to "pipebomb", but Cena had to spray "poopy" on JBL's limo. I don't get it.
